19/08 : Quick Update: fixes for tagcloud 0.9
Still not yet released but some more fixes have gone in:- This firefox bug finally fixed
- Improved handling of special characters - might need some more testing.
Seems to work in IE7 OK but not in firefox!

Firefox comes up with the URL: test_tag_vid%C3%A9o. Somehow this needs to be translated back to test_tag_vidéo?
18/08 : Big TagCloud Page
I've exchanged a few ideas regarding the tagcloud plugin with a number of people and recently recieved a great idea from the Gatowlion website. This is a site dedicated to e107 and photoshop, with news on e107 development and plugins and a number of photoshop tutorials and an array of photos on display. The idea was to form a giant e107 and photoshop tagcloud to allow google to spider all aspects of the site. But also, as a user, I actually find them quite cool to look at and I have a habit of clicking around phrases that jump out at me - often leading to new content I might not have otherwise discovered!
It is also useful for providing something a little more useful when no tags are found - rather than just an error page we now have a whole list of interesting topics and hopefully we will kepp our user engaged.
So here is my sites giant tagcloud!
This update is unreleased! Watch this space. My next task is to get tagcloud working correctly with special characters. Thanks again to Steve at gatowlion.newstwister.com for his hints on this too.

Here it is!Another update to CommentStop.

- Minimum name length for anon commenters
- Improved spam finder
- Admin comments review page links through to the news/ content/ download items so you can check the context of the comment before deletion or approval

13/08 : Random Comment Text Appearing from Anonymous Users
CommentStopThe good news is that CommentStop seems to be doing its job. But here is the curious thing, since opening up comments to anonymous users, I have been getting random entries such as:
acnhydl_zawtgchl eg: kuhm armfvboi wmxauf reaxy rgqpjmtdx eihvygjmq ahkqtoThe tools within CommentStop allow for instant deletion of all of these so it's not much of a biggy deal but I'm starting to think about how I can block them automatically. To date I dont have a good plan as to how to pick these out, perhaps banning certain combinations of letters that don't regularly appear in nicks.
For example mq, kq, vy, etc. If such a combination is picked up the comment isnt posted.
IP Logging
A second feature I want to add is logging of all IPs and the number of rejected posts from each one. In the admin area it will then be possible to report on these so that they can be added to your server level ban list.
Comment Spam Update
But otherwise I have had no spammers register at all recently, no spam posts, nothing. Is that just luck or have they given up now that links aren't posted? I guess time will tell. I won't be holding my breath, these things never go away for long! But for now, CommentStop seems to be doing it's job.
