Imagine that you’ve been happily supporting the blue widget company’s popular range of blue widgets, your affiliate links are embedded on multiple WordPress posts.
The last thing you want to do is go through and update all of your links if you had to promote red widgets instead.
Problem
The blue widget company closes their affiliate programme, you now have to quickly change all of your affiliate links over to red widgets. The longer this takes the more money it will cost you.
Solution
The Simple Affiliate Links plugin’s Link Manager stores all of your affiliate links in one handy place. Updating your links is now as easy as swapping the URL destinations for the new affiliate links.
No matter how many times you have used a link around your site, all instances are instantly updated the moment you hit save!
Centralised List of Affiliate Links
The Simple Affiliate Links plugin adds a “link manager” page to your WordPress admin panel. From here you can enter new links and chose various configuration options:
- Add the destination URL, this is the affiliated link you will be promoting. This can be updated at any time.
- A short name that allows you to reference the link in your posts using a WP shortcode
- Various options such as Open in New Window, and add No Follow tags
By storing the link in one place and referencing this each time you want to promote a product you can see how it only requires one update to change all the links on your site.
Advanced Tip
If, like me, you run multiple WordPress powered sites, then you can configure the plugin to share a single table in your database. This enables you to have one single list of affiliate links to serve every single one of your sites.
This means I can swap one merchant for another across all of my WordPress powered sites far quicker than any manual solution. It also mean that once I have entered an affiliated link into my central table I can reference it on any website without every having to look up that link again.
For example, I can promote a company such as Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk as quickly as it takes me to type the company’s name into the WP editor. You’ll see that the words are automatically converted into affiliated links and I don’t have to think about adding in any tracking tags!
Simple.
This is just one of the many things the free affiliate link plugin can do, you’ll find even more info on the Simple Affiliate Links page.
